2009 Fall Open Juried Exhibition of the AAEA

In May of 2009 Barbara submitted three entries into the American Academy of Equine Art's Fall Open Juried Exhibition held at the International Museum of the Horse at the Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington, Kentucky.  It is the first step towards becoming a member of the American Academy of Equine Art, a showcase of the finest international equine art talent, including renowned New Zealand-based bronze sculptor Joanne Sullivan-Gessler.

The Fall Open Juried Exhibition is a prestigious annual equine art event and in 2009 it attracted over 600 entries from around the world.  Only 91 gallery spaces were available.

Barbara was delighted to have all three of her entries selected given that the event is juried and not all submissions are automatically accepted for display.  The artist was even more delighted to be advised that her work "Beau Zam - A Posthumous Portrait" was awarded the Leonard J. Meiselman Memorial Award for Painting.  Not only that, two of her three entries sold on the opening night of the exhibition.

Testimonial

"Thank you Barbara for the water colour painting 'My Family'. Looking at Amber (my old labrador) it is as though she is still alive. I have her hung in a special place where I see her many times a day." Virginia Schnauer
